Membership Policies

In order to ensure that all of our members experience a safe and enjoyable workout environment, we have established the following policies and guidelines. Please read and observe these guidelines. We may amend or add to these policies at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • Babysitting
    • Behavior
      • Parents or guardians will be notified of any child’s misbehavior. Playroom staff reserves the right to deny access to any child as a result of continual behavior problems. If a crying child cannot be consoled after 10-15 minutes, the parent or guardian will be paged.

    • General Rules
      • • For your child’s safety, members and guests may bring only their own children into the Playroom. All children must be signed in and out by the same parent or legal guardian, proper photo identification is required (e.g. driver’s license).

        • Members and guests must remain present in the gym for the entire duration of their child’s stay in the Playroom.

        • The maximum stay in the Playroom is two hours per each visit to the gym. Children may stay in the Playroom twice in the same day. However, there must be at least two hours between each visit.

        • For safety reasons, the babysitting staff reserves the right to refuse admittance if the ratio of children to Playroom staff exceeds company guidelines:
        — When children less than 3 years of age are present: ratio = 4 children / 1 staff
        — When children 3 years of age and older are present: ratio = 10 children / 1 staff

        • Children must have shoes on at all times (unless prohibited in certain areas of the Playroom). Please bring an extra pair of shoes during inclement weather. It is preferable that children 9 months old or younger are dropped off in a car seat or stroller. Strollers must be stored away from Playroom activity so that they do not impede traffic or become a safety risk to children. Equipment provided for children younger than 2 years old varies at each gym (e.g. highchairs, walkers, swings and play mats).

    • Health and Safety
      • Total Woman babysitting staff reserves the right to deny access to any child who appears to be sick. Children kept home from school due to illness are not allowed in the Playroom. In most gyms, the babysitting staff is not permitted to change diapers. In the event a diaper change is necessary, the parent or guardian will be paged. In gyms where diaper changing is provided, the parent or guardian must bring diapers and wipes as well as a change of clothing. Children who are being potty-trained must wear training pants.

The following items are NOT permitted in the Playroom:

        • Sharp, hard-edges or pointy objects
        • Items small enough to be a choking hazard
        • Glass items
        • Plastic bags
        • Markers not provided by the Playroom staff
        • Food and beverages, except for beverages that are labeled and in non-spill containers

    • Pricing and Hours
      • Babysitting hours of operation and rates may vary at each gym. We offer a single-charge, 2-hour session or a monthly babysitting package. Babysitting services are not available at all locations.

  • Gym
    • We recognize that many of our members are skilled and advanced in their workout techniques and encourage a community environment where members contribute and assist their fellow members in those workouts. However, any member or guest not employed by or contracted by Total Woman as a personal trainer is prohibited from engaging in Personal Training, Private Coaching, Team Coaching, Physical Therapy or any related activity in our clubs. Total Woman reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to determine whether any act violates this prohibition.

      Age Requirements
      • Any individual 14 years or older may join any Total Woman facility. Children under the age of 14 may not utilize the cardio and strength training areas, or the group exercise studios, unless enrolled in a Total Woman program or service. Select locations have a limited membership option available for children under 14 (all individuals 14–17 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a membership agreement). See also Playroom Policies in this section for additional options for children under 11.

    • Cell Phone and Camera Use
      • The use of cell phones in the cardiovascular and strength training areas, the group exercise studios, and the locker rooms is strictly prohibited. (Cameras and other image capturing devices are strictly prohibited in all areas of the facility.) You are welcome to use cell phones in our entrance and lobby areas.

    • Checking In and Membership Key Tags
      • Please present your key tag to the Welcome Team for scanning each time you enter the gym. This improves security by distinguishing you from nonmembers. It also verifies the unique access privileges you've paid for, protecting the value of your membership. Another benefit is that we can monitor total gym usage and add staff when attendance spikes. Finally, if you'd like to know how often you have used our gyms (say for tax or insurance purposes), it makes obtaining a gym usage report possible.

Key tags may not be loaned to another person. Allowing someone else to use your key tag will result in immediate termination of your membership. Unfortunately, one strike and you're out.

    • Clothing
      • A shirt and shorts or sweat pants, and closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn at all times on the courts and in the fitness and exercise areas. Jeans, work boots, and other nonathletic attire are not permitted in the fitness/exercise areas.

    • Gym Usage Fees
      • Additional gym usage fees may apply when visiting gyms.
Please be advised that based on your membership type, and the day and time you enter a gym, you may be charged an additional usage fee. The amount of these usage fees may vary by gym. Please contact the gym you plan to visit for their exact usage fee rates.

    • Guests
      • We welcome guests at all of our gyms. There may be a fee depending on the type of guest pass being used. If you’re a first-time visitor, click this try out a gym link to try our a gym. All guests will need to show a photo ID.

    • Lockers
      • Our locker rooms have lockers for you to store your belongings while you work out. Just bring your own lock.

    • Parking
      • Some gyms offer parking, but this varies depending on the location. Before using a gym for the first time, you may want to call ahead about parking and transportation specifics.

    • Smoke-Free Environment
      • Total Woman is committed to the health of its employees and members. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Total Woman facilities and all enclosed or outdoor areas of the gym, including the entrance area immediately outside the front door. This applies to all smoking tobacco products, i.e., cigarettes, cigars and pipes.

    • Towel Service
      • Most of our gyms provide fresh clean towels for your workouts. There may be a fee for this service depending on your membership type and the gym you’re using.

  • Group Exercise
    • Class Reservation Policy
      • All members are required to present a Class Pass in order to attend a group exercise class in the studio. This is true regardless of whether they have made a class reservation or not.

When you initially check into the gym, tell the Welcome Team which class you are taking and they will give you a Class Pass. Class Passes may be obtained as early as one hour prior to the start of the class. Passes will NOT be given out once the class begins. Reservations are null and void two minutes before the start of class.

Members without reservations may attend classes only if their membership allows access to group classes and if there is space available in the class after all reserved members have been accommodated. If the class is fully reserved, the Welcome Team will accept names of eligible members interested in attending the class. Two minutes before the class begins, any unclaimed class spaces will be given to the people who are on the waiting list and present at the Welcome Desk. Passes will be distributed in the same order as the waiting list.
This new policy has been implemented to ensure a safe and enjoyable workout for all and serve those who are paying for group class privileges. Class capacities will not be exceeded. Please do not enter if a CLASS FULL sign is displayed on the door.
Please cancel your reservation at least one hour prior to the start of the class if you have reserved but are unable to attend. This allows fellow members to reserve your vacated spot. There will be a $5 no-show fee charged to anyone who reserves a class, does not attend and does not cancel at least one hour prior to the start of the class.
