Kavita's Pregnancy Blog: Week 36

My Fitness Routine this Week:
My workouts have taken an interesting turn. Since my baby has dropped, there is not as much pressure on my lungs which means that exercises which have been aggravating my breathing are easier for me right now. On the other hand, exercises which involve pelvic floor strength or agility are becoming more difficult. Lying at an angle on my back is easier than it has been in months, but squats feel like they are being kicked up a notch not only because of the increased pressure, but my belly prevents me from doing anything other than a wide-leg squat!

I have increased the frequency of my Pilates sessions to keep me limber and help position himself for delivery. Stretching in the final trimester encourages your baby to turn into a head-down position rather than breech (laying sideways or bottom down). After every Pilates session, I can tell that my baby is adjusting to some newly freed-up room in my uterus. He always seems very appreciative!

My Beauty Routine this Week:
I had been experiencing some small blemishes on my stomach, most likely due to the extremely heavy creams and Shea butters which I have been applying to prevent stretch marks (still stretch mark free by the way! Never ever discredit a good moisturizer and the power of water!). These creams can clog pores, resulting in a blemish. I have a bad habit of picking at blemishes on my skin, so I have to be careful not to give myself scars.

To control these spots, I have been using my calming mask from skin authority to spot-treat any areas of irritation overnight. I have also been applying the vitamin D cream which has a lightening effect to my stomach which has helped to lighten up any existing dark spots!

How I'm Feeling this Week:
We have officially reached the 9 month mark people! While this pregnancy has flown by, these final weeks seem to be absolutely crawling. The anticipation of seeing my little boy's face is almost unbearable!

With first pregnancies, your baby can drop very early. I can tell that I have experienced "lightening," or the dropping of my baby to a lower spot in my core. This is to get the baby in position for delivery. The good news is that this is giving me some slight relief with my heartburn, but the bad news is that I now feel increased pressure in my lower abdomen and on my bladder meaning lots of bathroom breaks during the night! It's a good thing my nesting energy has kicked in, otherwise I would be absolutely dragging during the day.

I have begun to experience headaches and light-headedness which may be associated with my blood pressure and large belly. I have a long commute to work, so I need to take extra care while I drive to ensure that I am not preventing proper circulation through my body. My doctor advises that I take care of this by drinking lots of water and switching between laying down and standing, but to avoid sitting if possible. Having a straight body line allows unhindered blood flow through areas that are affected by the increased pressure on my body. Remember, always listen to your doctor when you experience any unusual symptoms.
