Potato chips, soda, doughnuts, bacon cheese burgers…let’s face it, we all get a hankering for junk food every now and then. I mean who hasn’t made a “run for the border” for fourth meal in the middle of the night, right? We may think a junk food binge every now and then isn’t a big deal, but what we need to realize is what these “foods” are actually made from and the effect they can have on our bodies.

Research shows that increased intake of processed foods can lead to obesity, lethargy, heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Junk foods are laden with ingredients such as refined sugar, salt, saturated fat, MSG and aspartame; all of which have the potential to be detrimental to our health when consumed in high quantities. Remember Morgan Spurlock's documentary titled "Super Size Me" where Morgan ate nothing but McDonald's food for an entire month? The results were astounding! His weight skyrocketed, he had little to no energy, and at the end of the month, his doctor told him to stop eating all this fast food because he was in such terrible health...after just one month!
