About Total Woman Gym & Day Spa

Total Woman Gym and Day Spa is the largest, full-service gym and day spa in California. Started in 1965, we have dedicated more than 40 years to helping women achieve their health, fitness and wellness goals.

Total Woman’s visionary founder, Art Stone, began his first health club with a single store called World for Women in West Los Angeles. The idea came to him as owner and operator of Kismet Beauty Salons, a chain of 11 successful beauty salons in the Los Angeles area. He often heard his primarily female clientele discussing the need for a place that could offer the weight-loss results of a gym along with the pampering of a day spa, and ideally, be able to offer these amazing perks to women only.

World of Women was born! His first store provided his clientele exactly what they had been asking for -- a women’s only health club offering massage and a health food café -- and became an instant success. In 1983 Adrienne Stone joined forces with her husband and together they began the expansion of the successful concept to incorporate full-service day spas which included facials, body treatments, massage, aromatherapy and manicures and eventually changed the name to Total Woman Gym and Day Spa. Art and Adrienne retired in 2007 and now serve as Board members for Total Woman, continuing to guide the company with their vision.

Today we have 13 locations across Southern California and are continuing to expand, with our newest location in Northern California, Alameda, and another in San Jose opening in June of 2013 . Our unique concept is like nothing you have ever seen. We have all of the amenities that a woman would want in a fitness center with a twist: Our full service day spas and boutique elements give our gyms the upscale look and feel of a five star day spa.
